Sixth Form Students 'exemplary' in Mock Trial

On Wednesday 19th January, Cowes Enterprise College was proud to host the Mock Trial event. Students at the academy’s sixth form were joined by peers from the Island Innovation VI Form.

The Mock Trial involved presenting a legal case in a mock court room, with three presiding judges, including the High Sheriff for the Isle of Wight, J R W Attrill Esq DL.

Cowes Enterprise College ‘barristers’ Beth C and Sneya S gave an inspirational defence, described as ‘exemplary’ by an observing teacher and allowed Sam R’s character to be freed from the dock, despite an aggressive grilling from the Innovation VI form barristers.

Sam gave a great performance as an innocent man wrongly accused, supported by Holly M.  The academy’s prosecution barristers Sanjay K and Abigail Me also put on an amazing show, supported by Jess C-L and Jess G as witnesses. Fellow sixth form students Mia I and Ruby W performed superbly as court officials.

Cowes Enterprise College Sixth Form Teacher, Mrs S Cody, said:

“Competing in the Mock Trial competition is a fabulous opportunity for students, not only to get to understand the legal and justice system but also to build confidence, public speaking and leadership skills as they build their cases and perform in the courtroom.”

A huge well done to the whole team for their hard work and commitment.

Cowes Enterprise College thanks all the students involved who acted as our brilliantly impartial jury and provided support for our team. The academy is also very grateful to those who acted as judges
