Health and Social Care

Throughout this KS4 course, we aim to provide pupils with a practical and engaging introduction into the health and social care across a variety of sectors, whilst developing the knowledge, understanding, and transferable skills needed for further study or employment.

We aim to provide a real-world understanding where learners explore how people grow and develop across different age stages, the services that support them, and the factors that affect health and wellbeing.

The course emphasises applying knowledge through coursework, case studies, and scenarios—helping students build skills such as communication, empathy, problem-solving, and planning. However, there is also a synoptic exam at the end of year 11.

This course combines exam-based learning with coursework, supporting different learning styles and reducing reliance on final exams alone.

Essentially, the qualification is designed to bridge academic learning with practical application, giving students a meaningful insight into the care sector whilst equipping them with skills, confidence, and direction for their next steps.
