Everyone Matters

Our innovative Everyone Matters (E1M) subject is a personal development programme. We help students learn more about the world and how to keep themselves safe, healthy and positive.

Citizenship & PSHE

Our Citizenship and PSHE curriculum supports students in becoming informed, responsible, and active members of society. We want students to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to navigate modern life, build positive relationships, manage risks, and participate effectively in their communities.  

The curriculum encompasses Relationships and Sex Education, Health Education and Citizenship Education, including financial and economic education. 

We aim to develop students’ critical thinking, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills through discussion, enquiry and real-world case studies. Students learn to evaluate information, consider different viewpoints, understand the impact of their choices, and recognise the rights and responsibilities that come with living in a diverse democratic society.  

By the end of Year 11, our intent is for students to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, contribute positively to their communities, understand the world around them, and feel prepared for the opportunities and challenges of later life. 

GCSE Citizenship

Students who study OCR GCSE Citizenship Studies build upon the foundations established through the wider Citizenship and PSHE curriculum. They develop a deeper understanding of democracy, government, the legal system, rights and responsibilities, the role of the media, and the ways citizens can influence change in society. Students engage with contemporary issues, examine different perspectives, and apply their knowledge to real-world situations, including undertaking a practice active citizenship project. 

Through studying Citizenship at GCSE, students gain a valuable qualification and develop the knowledge, confidence and critical awareness needed to participate effectively in democratic life, engage with public issues, and pursue a wide range of future educational and career pathways.
