History

Our history curriculum enables students to develop and extend their knowledge and understanding of important key events, periods and societies in local, British, and wider world history; and of the wide diversity of human experience. We encourage students to investigate issues critically and to make valid historical claims by using a range of sources in their historical context.

We give students power over their own knowledge allowing them to evaluate critically the significance and utility of a large body of material, including evidence from contemporary sources and interpretations of historians.

History is about developing the skills needed to become expert historians. We assess students in a range of ways but place an emphasis upon extended writing as important preparation for further history study.
