Cowes Enterprise College, part of the Ormiston Academies Trust, is celebrating once again after being awarded the prestigious School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year – for the fourth year in a row.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, which recognises schools for their commitment to the development of competitive sport and physical activity across school and the wider community.
This year, Cowes Enterprise College has once again demonstrated excellence in sport through a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, participation in competitive fixtures and tournaments, and the continued success of its student leadership in sport programme.
With large numbers of students representing the academy in inter-school competitions, the college is proud to celebrate not only the dedication and enthusiasm of its players, but also the student leaders, volunteers and officials who help to make sport happen.
To achieve the Gold Award, the college successfully met a series of rigorous criteria spanning participation, competition, workforce and club links.
Principal Rachel Kitley said:
“We are absolutely delighted to receive the School Games Gold Mark for a fourth consecutive year. This achievement is a testament to the commitment and energy of our PE department and students. Sport plays a vital role in our school community – it fosters teamwork, resilience and confidence, and we’re proud to see so many students engaging with it in such a positive way.”
Huge thanks go to our incredible PE team and our brilliant students for their energy, teamwork and effort. Here’s to another fantastic year of sport at CEC!
