Year 10 Student Success in “Photo the World” Competition

Cowes Enterprise College are celebrating the remarkable achievement of Year 10 student Maisie W who clinched the Key Stage 4 victory in the “Photo the World” competition organised by Ormiston Academies Trust.

The nationwide competition invited pupils from Ormiston Academies Trust schools to participate, taking a photo of the environment, whether it be wildlife, nature or urban landscape, that promotes curiosity and fascination with the world around us.

Maisie’s winning submission features the Gunard Beach Huts, situated not far from Cowes Enterprise College, silhouetted against a sunset in late summer.

In her words, ” The photo shows the beauty and peace of the setting sun in an urbanised seafront, the balance between the natural world and sympathetic buildings, the beach huts. A balance between man-made and nature, whilst the dramatic colours of the sunset provide its own curiosity and interest pulling people together (not shown in the photo) to share the moment of sunset, the photo focuses on the quiet peace rather than the shared interest.

Rachel Kitley, Principal of Cowes Enterprise College, said:

“We are exceptionally proud of Maisie’s outstanding achievement the ‘Photo the World’ Competition. Her ability to encapsulate the inherent beauty and delicate balance between urban life and nature in our local environment is truly remarkable. Maisie’s success stands as a testament to the exceptional talent and creativity nurtured within our student body. We look forward to seeing the inclusion of our local scenery in the ‘Photo the World’ calendar.”

Maisie’s photo is set to appear in the forthcoming “Photo the World” calendar, a proud moment for both the academy and the local community.
