I am writing to let you know that during the afternoon on Thursday 29th September, we will be taking the whole of Year 7 to the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes to visit a Maritime Careers Fair. This will be a short visit, lasting no more than 45 minutes, and all students will be leaving between 12:45 and 13:45, returning no later than 14:45.
Please could you ensure that you complete the attached consent form and return it to either your child’s tutor or the Academy Office before Monday 26th September. A paper copy will be also be sent home with your child on Thursday 22nd.
We express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II. Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to her other realms and territories is unparalleled and we thank her for her service.
Our school will observe the mourning period but continue to support our pupils, families and staff. Unless otherwise stated, please assume any scheduled activities and events we have scheduled will continue as planned. We will observe the national holiday scheduled for Her Majesty’s funeral, and await information on whether this means schools will be closed the day after, as we believe that the funeral is likely to take place on Sunday 18th September. We will let you know when we are able to, but can say that outside of this, school hours will continue as normal.
Our school will be keeping pupils informed of news about these events as part of assemblies and class activities. If you think your child may be experiencing particular upset due to the passing of The Queen, please do let us know so we can provide additional support if needed.
Pupils are able to wear an appropriately respectful black item as part of their uniform tomorrow if they would like to. Should there be anything further we can support you with, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
